Barry's Lee Selby hopes to rearrange fight, after illness forces him to pull out of title defence

BARRY Boxer Lee Selby’s title defence was postponed on the weekend, after he was forced to pull out of the bout due to illness.

Lee, 25, was set to defend his British and Commonwealth Featherweight titles against Ireland’s Martin Lindsay in Belfast on Saturday (September 22).

Manager Chris Sanigar said: "Lee was fine at the weigh-in on the Friday, but overnight suffered with flu sickness and on the morning of the fight he was clearly unwell. “Lee's health is the most important factor to consider so it left me no option but to withdraw him from the fight."

Lindsay went on to fight last-minute replacement Renald Garrido and won the bout 80-73 on points at the Odyssey Arena.

Lee’s team are now looking to reschedule the fight within the next few months.
