Back-to-back wins for Barry Rovers
7:50am Thursday 13th September 2012 in Sport
BARRY ROVERS 7 CADOXTON IMPS 0
ROVERS entertained the Imps and starting off playing some great football in the middle of the park, dominating through Christos.
Branna scored a super Le Tissier strike with scorey Corey getting a brace for 3-0 at half time.
This relaxed the Rovers and the second half started the same as the first. The back 5 of Peacock, Webber, Graham, Rampant and Les were snuffing any of the chances the Imps had, and with Lee Todd scoring it gave the management time to get some other players on.
Mirror Dan came on and scored two with Christos also scoring.
Ben and Tea Hurn worked hard on the wings and Curtis and Owain came on to help seal the win.
Many thanks to Dave and Jo for their great food and drink and much appreciated support at the Billy.
BARRY ROVERS 4 FC PUMAS 2
ON a great day at the Butts, with the grass a tad long, the Rovers needed to bounce back after the previous week's close defeat.
With a few injuries, they would see how good the squad was - and they did not disappoint. Roy Rodgers made five changes and the Rovers started brightly.
Toddy up front was working tirelessly with Corey, and the Rovers were playing well with Woody, Christos, Ben and Jinky Jimmy running the midfield.
The Rovers deservedly took the lead with a 35-yarder from Ben, who Branna had been working with on the training ground, which smashed past the Pumas keeper who was keeping them in the game with some great saves.
They were 1-0 up but some indecisive defending let the Pumas back into the game for 1-1 at half time.
The Rovers came back out with precise passing and scored to make it 2-1, but within seconds a defender diving in gave the Pumas a penalty, which was smashed home.
A few changes followed, Tea Hurn and Owain Hughes coming on, and Rovers then also had a penalty which was hit home for 3-2.
Within minutes jinking Jimmy Burns scored the goal which sealed the three points for the Rovers, with the back five of Peacock, Rampant, Graham, Webber and Ben keeping things calm at the back.
Many thanks to Paul Jenkins who refereed superbly.
