Cadoxton Barry complete second half comeback in style

THIS was the proverbial game of two halves.
CB came out of the blocks slowly and soon found themselves a goal down when the lively Justin Carr sliced open the defence and beat Warner in the CB goal. Things went from bad to worse when a mis-timed Christoforato tackle resulted in a penalty which Carr executed with perfection.
CB had their moments but could not find the cutting edge and this was punished further when Anthony Cory added a third for the home side.
Staring a three goal deficit in the face, CB produced a fine passing move involving Hopkins, Lewis and Weekley for Adam Gulwell to score just before half time.
The team talk at the break was interesting to say the least, and CB responded to the rallying call. McInery and Lewis ran the channels whilst Baker and Hurn drove the midfield forward.
Ross Weekley was to take centre stage as he scored two goals in quick succession to bring the scores level at 3-3. The momentum was now with CB and every player dug in deep.
Rhys Hopkins switched from left to centre back to partner the impressive Patrick Curran and these two, together with Matthews and Christoforato, did not give Carr and co a sniff in the second half.
As Connor McInery and Aiden Lewis became even more effective in the wide positions, Weekley again showed his predatory instincts to complete a fine hat trick.
Those who thought he was finished there were wrong. Weekley added the fourth and CB's fifth after a fine assist from Gareth Fiddler to clinch a well deserved win for the Linnets.
Special mention to Ashley Govier who stepped in at short notice to play, Rhys Hopkins for his all-action display, and Weekley who finished like a young Robbie Fowler.
On Saturday Cadoxton Barry entertain Caerphilly at Bryn-Y-Don. Kick off 2pm.
