BARRY Bombettes travelled to Swansea for the second BRW Sevens tournament on July 21, with expectations high for a day of sun, sand, rugby and socialising.

The Bombettes faced much stronger opponents in Ponty Butchers (aka the WRU Women's Sevens team) but only went down two tries to nil in the short turn of the game.

Special mention to Judie Cole who sprinted almost the length of the pitch to make a try-saving touch. The Bombettes' second and final game was against Tylorstown, their neighbours back at the campsite. This was a good match which was narrowly lost by three tries to two.

Special mention to try scorer Bernie Bombette. The Bombettes stayed to the end to support the other ladies' teams through to the final, and a great weekend was enjoyed by all who went camping and those that joined in for the day - Rob and Ceri and Judie and Darren.

Thanks to Ashleigh Walters, Dave P, Nige and Ribs, Matt and 'Flapjack/Mother Bear,' 'Eggy bread Frankie' for cooking/tents, etc, and girls. Special thanks to Coors for sponsoring the T-shirts. Everyone is already looking forward to next year.

Bombettes: M Phillips, A Moffat, L Phillips, R Beare, R Boffy, L Cahill, H Bannister, K Jones, E Carter, D Provis, F Greig, N Boffy, S Richards, C Morgan, Kim Jones, S Horne, J Cole, C Hill, N Yapp and Bernie.
