Barry's Devon trip is sunny success

NEW FRIENDS: Both on and off the pitch, Barry Town players and supporters enjoyed a great day out for Saturday's friendly at Western League club Elmore.
Elmore 0, Barry Town 3 BARRY Town travelled to Elmore in Tiverton for their second pre-season friendly and, with a full coach, including many supporters, the mood on board was joyful on a beautiful sunny day.
Elmore own their own ground and it is testament to their hard work that they have a very picturesque location with all the facilities, including a new stand which incorporated the dressing rooms.
The game itself was of good quality, with the Dragons the dominant team in the first half but Elmore, from the Western League, holding their own in the second.
The Dragons took an early lead through TJ Nagi when his shot from wide right went through the keeper's legs. The play was end to end and both keepers had to make good saves although it was the Elmore goal that was under more pressure. The Dragons increased their lead midway through the half when Christian Doidge’s shot from 25 yards took a deflection off a defender and wrongfooted the keeper.
Both sides made changes in the second half and, with Elmore also changing their formation, it was a more even contest. Christian made the game safe with his second a few minutes from the end with a great lob over the stranded Elmore keeper.
This was another good workout for the team, with several players still missing on holiday.
Our thanks were given to the management at Elmore for their great hospitality on the day.
Dragon’s players: Brendan Cropley, Geraint Frowen, Damon Searle, Ryan Evans, Mike Hartley, Atif Bashir, Josh Bell, Dale Howarth, TJ Nagi, James Saddler, Christian Doidge, Geraint Goodridge, Lewis Clare, Thomas Case and Josh Selway.
Friendlies have been arranged for Saturday at Goytre (Gwent), Tuesday (July 31)t UWIC and, of course, Cardiff City on Wednesday. August 8.
