Tynewydd and Pumas share the points

TYNEWYDD 2 PUMAS 2

TYNEWYDD returned to action after a seven-week lay-off and gained a valuable point against the attack-minded Pumas.

Both teams paid tribute to the late Brian Riseborough by holding a minute's silence before kick off.

Tynewydd were forced into a tactical reshuffle shortly before kick off when Simon Bellamy withdrew with a muscular problem.

Pumas started the better of the two teams and took an early lead.

The Tinny looked to press for an equaliser but Pumas' fast counter-attacks ensured fullbacks Lyndon Peterson and Wesley Lomax were restricted from making supporting runs.

Eventually the game settled and Nick Elston won the aerial contest whilst Jammo swept things up well next to him.

The second half began with both teams taking the game to one another. Tynewydd got the equaliser that their determination deserved when Ross Smith spun his marker and lashed home and absolute thunderbolt.

Tynewydd were now playing with an extra dimension and increased confidence and were rewarded when Jason Reed picked the ball up out wide and dribbled his way past 3 players, slotting home to give the hosts the lead.

Jodie Shepherd, Ian Griffiths and Matthew Leighton were all introduced but Tynewydd could not extend their lead and Pumas equalised as both teams shared the points.

As always, Tynewydd players would like to thank their pub for the after-match food and hospitality.

Jammo Clissett was man of the match.

Tynewydd: C Harding, L Peterson, N Elston, J Clissett, W Lomax, J Reed, G Union, M Hesp, D Miller, R Smith, J Tanetta, J Shepherd, I Griffiths, M Leighton, S Bellamy, M Gill and P Union.
