ON Tuesday 14th August, the ladies of Brynhill Golf Club gathered to watch the Ladies Championship final and the Diack Cup final.

First out was the championship, which was played over 36 holes.

Ladies captain Sam Pascoe was up against a very competent opponent in Ruth O’Carroll.

Together with their caddies, Clare Downton for Sam and Sally Nugent, who is Ruth’s mother, they played an entertaining and competitive match.

Refereed by Jan Robertson.

Ruth, was well up after 18 holes, then the players and spectators returned to clubhouse for lunch and a chat.

Unfortunately again, we did have some rain but, with the course needing water, it didn’t spoil the day.

The championship resumed with more spectators including, club president Hilary West.

Sam, battled on but Ruth, held her nerve to be crowned Ladies Champion 2018.

The afternoon competition also included the Diack Cup final.

The finalists, Helena Coombes with her caddy Robbie Lee and Lisa Taylor with caddy Andrea Page started their match with referee Judy Davies.

What an exciting match it was.

With all the spectators now following Helena and Lisa, they gave each other a good game which, concluded with Lisa winning the Diack Cup 2018.

The ladies returned to the club in the evening for a delicious dinner.

The speeches were entertaining and everyone agreed that it had been a great day of golf and camaraderie.

Ladies captain Sam Pascoe, thanked everyone for attending, and thanked her vice captain Jo Kirkpatrick for all her help.

Sam thanked the greens staff, catering and bar staff for all their work in making the day run smoothly.

Another excellent day and evening at Brynhill Golf Club.
