SULLY Centurions unexpectedly lost at Pontymister & Cross Keys and lost top spot in the league as a result.

Centurions batted first and made a decent start, and at 95 for 2 were looking comfortable.

But a catastrophic batting collapse saw them slump to a mere 151 all out.

Only Rhett Jones, with 47, made anything like a reasonable score.

When the home side batted, although a few wickets were taken, it was always going to be a tough ask for Sully and the target was reached for the loss of only four wickets.

Centurions have the perfect opportunity to bounce back this week as they take on new league leaders Creigiau at Burnham Avenue.

2nd XI

Sully 2nd XI entertaine the Pontymister seconds in the reverse match at Sully and won a highly entertaining match by 8 wickets.

The visitors batted first and soon got into their stride. Price (72) and Brown (29) put on 70 for the second wicket, eventually reaching 109 for 2 at the halfway stage.

However, Patrick Lane (3 for 44) and Luke Canter (2 for 8) made inroads, slowing down the run rate.

Then a late rally (including 18 runs off the final over) saw Pontymister reach 205 for 8 at the end.

After tea, Dan Chaulk and Patrick Lane made a solid start, sharing a half century stand for the first wicket, when lane was caught behind for a well made 44.

But, only one more wicket fell as Chaulk, who hit an unbeaten century, and Mike Oatridge (35 not out) saw Centurions home with three overs to spare.
