TWO courses run by She Rallies to provide help to develop women's and girls’ tennis take place in the Vale of Glamorgan this month.

The Lil Miss Hits course will provide women with the knowledge, confidence and skills to run 6 weeks of introductory tennis lessons for young girls in their own settings.

Following the 3 hour course, participants can then apply for a kitbag of resources subject to providing a minimum commitment of 6 hours of sessions at their own venue.

Safeguarding and insurance requirements must be met, but full details of these will be provided at the course.

It takes place on Monday, July 16, 10am-1pm, at Penarth Lawn Tennis Club on Rectory Road.

Then, two days later on Wednesday, July 18, 10am-1pm, also at Penarth Lawn Tennis Club, The Starter Tennis for Teen Girls course will provide women with the knowledge, confidence and skills to run introductory tennis sessions for girls in their own settings.

Following the 3 hour course, participants can then apply for a kitbag of resources subject to providing a minimum commitment of 6 hours of sessions at their own venue.

Safeguarding and insurance requirements must be met, but full details of these will be provided at the course.

As Judy Murray puts it: “There is still a significant gender gap in terms of players and coaches at all levels of the game.

“By rallying together, we can create opportunities in tennis from the grassroots up. Whether you’re an existing tennis coach, teacher, parent, student, youth worker, brownie leader or an enthusiastic club member, I have designed 4 courses as part of ‘She Rallies‘, supported by The LTA, which will give you the skills and ideas to deliver starter training and fun competition to girls and women in your community. If we rally together – pun intended – we will make a difference.”
