Cadoxton v Penarth– Munro Cup (Home)

On an overcast evening Cadoxton travelled to Penarth to complete a Munro Cup fixture. They found the pace of the green good, but were puzzled and found difficulty with the lines, which gave the local knowledge an advantage. Howard Craven only managed success, with his rink, in two of the opening eleven ends, before coming to terms with the conditions when the scores changed from 4-14 to draw level at 14 each. However two ‘4’s against took away the final result. Derek Jeffries’s rink had a ‘4’ against on the opening end but after 7 ends they led 8-6. However a ‘6’ on the next knocked out the stuffing from them and only two further ends brought success. Don Kuhnell’s rink achieved little for most of the match and trailed by 17 shots before three successful rinks produced eight shots. This made the final score more respectable. Kelvin Chedgzoy’s rink conceded a ‘2’ on the first, then continued by steadily increasing their advantage to 12-8 0n the 11th end. Going into the final end a two shot advantage was taken away with a ‘3’ against.
