THE Golf Union of Wales, Challenge Bowls and Medal Competition area final was hosted this year by Brynhill Golf Club last Friday with the winners going on to play the final at Llandrindod Wells Golf Club on August 7.
The golf course and the weather were glorious. Brynhill was represented by Claire Downton, with caddie Carole Allen in the Silver Bowls Competition, Olwyn Thomas with caddie Shirley Lewis in the Medal Competition and Sue Holland with caddie Jan Robertson in the Bronze Bowls Competition.
More than 70 lady competitors represented their clubs from this area and they were greeted by Ladies’ captain Sam Pascoe and Ladies’ vice captain Jo Kirkpatrick.
The Golf Union of Wales organiser Olwen Evans and helper Liz Lewis oversaw the official side of the day and commented on the excellent condition of the course and all the organising and support of the lady members of Brynhill.
All the ladies enjoyed the day which resulted in our own Sue Holland coming first in the Bronze Bowls Competition with a gross 100 nett 73.
Sian Smith won the Silver Bowl Competition with Gross 90 nett 72.
The Medal winner was Rebecca Roberts from Coed-Y-Mwstwr Golf Club with gross 81 net 70.
