THE rolling fairways and velvet smooth greens of Brynhill held the annual Championship Qualifiers last weekend, split into three groups, Championship (The good), Midway (The not as good as they think they are) and the Buck Rabbit (absolutely honkin) battled it out in perfect weather conditions for a place in the KO stages.
Best in the Championship was Matt Lundrigan with a two round total of 148, top spot in the Midway was Lewis Miller with a solid total of 163 while in the Buck it was Robert Garn, who carded a 92 on the Sunday. With the best 16 in each category now going forward to the knockout stages, the pick of the ties in the Championship is the two Scotties, Bowman and Warne, in the Midway sweet swinging Scotsman Alan Sweeny takes on the ever unpredictable Shaun Williams, while tie of the round in the Buck is Gron (happy feet) Jones versus William Burniston.
Next Sunday it’s the Artillery Cup, a four ball better ball medal, where unlike Championship weekend, there’s a partner to blame when things, as they so often do, don’t go well. Enjoy your golf.
