BARRY Beavers Disabled Swimming Club won their home gala before the start of April with 19 medals with 11 Golds, 4 Silvers and 4 Bronzes.

April started off quietly the first week as a lot were unavailable to attend due to the Easter holidays.

But it didn't effect the session at all as it ran normally with those who were there that session.

They'd continued with training for the 1st away gala at Carmarthen for the Towy Salmon Gala.

On 14th April the club team travelled to Carmarthen Leisure Centre to compete at the Towy Salmon Swimming Gala with a 26-strong team.

They'd competed against teams such as Towy Salmon, Rhondda Polar Bears, Blaenau Gwent Otters, Gwent Dolphins and Bedwas Penguins.

The team competed really well on the day and successfully won following their home gala success in March. They took home 8 Golds, 8 Silvers and 3 Bronzes totalling to 19 medals overall and also taking the top spot taking home the shield.

On 22nd April a group of 10 Beavers went to Bridgend for the Bridgend Lions Swimathon to swim for the swimming club.

The swimmers were Chris, Aiden, Leah, Callum, Kiera R, Kiera D, Oliver, Jack, Abby and Ffion Jones.

All the swimmers raised money for the club. All together they'd swam 176 lengths.

Unfortunately Ffion couldn't swim as she was doing her DoE Award so her mother Cath stood in instead.

On 29th April some of the club went to Morrisons for bag packing and raised over £660 on the day.

Also that same day Nicholas took part in this year’s Swimathon at Barry Leisure Centre raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care UK.

He swam it in 1h 6m 00s and swam the 2.5km swim.
