BARRY junior parkrun saw its wettest event yet last weekend, but that was not enough to deter the 28 runners who took park in the 2km race.
Visitors from Pembrokeshire and St Athan were among those to take to the Romilly Park course, with eight first-timers in all. Despite atrocious conditions, two new personal bests were set on the day, as Dylan Fitchett and Morgan Anstey battled the weather to record their best ever finishes at the event.
For the boys, visitor Steffan Bridger finished in first place in an impressive 8.34, second overall went to David Barker in 8.56, while third of the boys and fourth overall went to Rhys Mcnabb in 9.26.
Imogen Davies was the first female finisher in 9.21, claiming third overall, second place and fifth overall went to Harriet Kehl in 9.40 and finishing in third place was Lowri Mack in 11:12.
With much of the core volunteering team away this week, taking part in or marshalling at other local run events, there were new roles for many of last weekend's volunteers.
Barry junior parkrun would like to say a huge thanks to their volunteer crew for braving the rain and cheering the juniors on.
