THE Premier Division title chase took another turn this weekend as Barry Athletic reclaimed top spot. Dan Morgan and Mark Kingdon both scored to fire them to a 2-1 win over Island Marine, as Athletic overtook previous leaders St Athan who suffered a 3-2 home defeat to AFC Rhoose. Luke Llewelyn Davis, a Jordan Owen double and an excellent goalkeeping performance from Nathan Gahan guided Rhoose to all three points as they moved up to fourth. FC Barry Belgrade thumped Penarth 4-1 to move second, a single point behind Barry Athletic with four games in hand on the leaders. Three points now separate the top four.

In Division One, Sully Sports continued their dominance at the top of the table after putting seven past Cadoxton Athletic in a 7-3 win to move 8 points clear with two games in hand on second. SP Billy lost 3-1 to Cardiff Airport, who move to within two points of second having played a game less. Barry Saints also moved within two points of second but with two games in hand, winning 3-0 at home to Cwm Talwg. Cadoxton Imps secured an impressive 3-3 draw away to Cogan Coronation in a thriller.

In Division Two, Llantwit Major kicked into top gear as they routed St Athan B 8-1. Josh Morgan bagged a hat trick and Max Morgan scored twice as the hosts ran out deserved winners. BRT Dynamos moved to within a point of Vale Madrid as they came out 4-2 winners away, Island Marine B triumphed 4-1 against BV, while bottom side Glenbrook picked up a point in an eight goal thriller as they held Barry Albion 4-4.

Next week, only a handful of league fixtures are being played as both Supporters Cup and Dockers Cup action gets underway, but the Premier League tie between Cowbridge Town and FC Barry Belgrade could nevertheless be an entertaining game to look out for.
