THE Witchill Wildcats have installed themselves as firm favourites to win the Asprou Barbers Vale Pool League thanks to their 7-5 win over last year's champions, Billy United.

The first singles session saw the Wildcats take a 3-1 lead thanks to wins from Chris Bardsley, Ceri Morris and Paul Everest. The first doubles were shared, before the second set of singles saw the match come to life with quality play from both sides.

Martin Pring kept his side in it in the final singles thanks to his win over Ceri Morris, but victory was soon sealed by the Wildcats in the doubles to give them a vital win.

Libs Rejects had to fight hard in their fixture this week, claiming a narrow 7-5 win against Finnegan's Bar.

After the opening four singles were shared, the Libs forged ahead after taking the first two doubles before Finnegan's stormed back to take three of the next four singles.

But Libs sealed the victory by taking the remaining two doubles, thanks in large part to Mike Roberts winning all four of his matches.

O'Brien's took an early 3-0 lead in their tie against the Baruc Arms and looked to be cruising to victory, only for their opponents to remarkably win the next six frames in a row.

O'Brien's recovered to force the encounter into the final game, before James Latham and Connor Adams sealed the final doubles for the Baruc to give them a 7-5 win.

In the week's other fixture, the Castle Dark Lords sealed a comprehensive win over Glenbrook Wanderers in an 11-1 thrashing.

Karl Marsh grabbed the Wanderers' only point on the night, as Brian Harris dominated throughout for the hosts.

The league are still looking for players of all capabilities to join the Thursday league, with the Glenbrook in search of two new players to join their new team.

If you are interested in joining, please text Joe on 07870 498738 or phone Anthony on 07568 444180. The league would like to pay thanks to their sponsors: Asprou Barbers Park Crescent, Eze Drive Driving School and R&M Mobile Valeting.
