THE Glenbrook Wanderers travelled to the Borough Arms in a must win match, recording a comprehensive 10-2 victory.

The first set of singles were shared 2-2 with Div Jones impressing in frame four. The doubles matches were a tight affair and could have gone either way, with Jeff Bartle's skill shot on the black proving the highlight of the match.

The Wanderers somehow came away 10-2 winners, with Rhodri Thomas and Karl Marsh impressing despite the final scoreline being an unfair reflection on the hosts.

Over at the Witchill, The Wildcats hosted the Libs Rejects. The home team got off to a shaky start when the impressive Mike Williams beat county player Dean Jenkins in frame two, making it 2-2 at the end of the first singles session.

In form James Hill, Chris Bardsley, Joe 90 and Ian Hill would go on to make it 4-2. The Wildcats went on to win the next six frames with Lawrence Klee and Colin Berryman giving the rejects no mercy.

The win was secured by the Vale's top ladies player Sian Kedward, with a magnificent four ball clearance to make the final score 10-2.

Last year's champions Billy United came away from Millwood with a resounding 12-0 victory. The scoreline failed to reflect how close the frames were, with several games going down to the black.

Despite having a depleted team The Castle Dark Lords recorded an impressive 9-3 away win at Finnegan's. Young Ralph Miners was top scorer and man of the match for The Castle, winning four out of four.

The Ship maintained their lead at the top of the table under Graham Avaient's captaincy, winning 10-2 at O'Briens after recovering from 2-1 down to win nine straight frames.

Graham Avaient won four from four, as did vice-captain Mike Dunn. Nathan Davidson and Adrian Leadbetter again impressed to win crucial frames.

The county team look to have won promotion without hitting a ball, with them currently awaiting confirmation from the Welsh Pool Association following Caerphilly C's thrashing of Porthcawl 28-8.

If the Islanders beat Neath in their last game they should go up as champions.
