CADOXTON Bowling Club's season ending finals day had to be split across three days in order to accommodate for John Papoutsou, who despite reaching an incredible four finals ended the event trophy-less.
The first game was for the Jack Hartman over 60s trophy between Papoutsou and Derek Jefferies, with Jefferies running out a comfortable 21-3 winner.
The second game was the Handicap with Papoutsou facing Jim Stacey, losing 21-19 in a close-fought encounter, before The Club Championship final saw Kelvin Chedgzoy edge out his opponent.
The Two Bowl competition was a trouble-free success for Don Kuhnell against Ivor Robertson, followed by
Derek Jefferies' second success in the Novices Trophy against Dennis Hammond.
The new Memorial Trophy, which is played in sets between the winners of the Mens and Ladies sections, was contested by Jim Stacey and Ann Jones. Jones put a respectable performance but found Stacey too strong for her on the day.
The team games were played on the third day, with John Papoutsou again taking part in the pairs event.
Partnered with Ian Heppenstall against Kelvin Chedgzoy and Alan Prince, Papoutsou and Heppenstall squandered an early advantage, going on to lose by six shots..
Chedgzoy was in action once more in the Triples with Howard Craven as his opposite number..
The spectators were entertained with a wonderful game of bowls, with neither side able to stamp their authority, but Craven's side of J Stacey and Phil Ellis ultimately ran out the victors.
