WHITMORE Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) recently paid a visit to Holywell Bay, Cornwall for the Great Britain SLSC Nippers competition, with one youngster coming away with a gold medal in her event.
The small team of aspiring junior lifeguards, aged between nine and 12 years, were attending the two day August event to compete for the first time.
With very challenging sea conditions and unpredictable weather, many of the nippers recorded personal best performances in the competition, with all those taking part thoroughly enjoying the experience of competing at a high level.
The team competed in sea swims, board races, 1km runs, 100 metre sprints and beach flags events, with an outstanding performance from under 10s competitor Lily Foscolo seeing her take a gold medal in the beach flags event, as well as a silver in the sprint competition.
The club would like to thank all of the children for taking part, as well as the club's parent helpers and coaches.
