BARRY Athletic Cricket Club played their final game of the season on Saturday, with the first XI losing by 105 runs at home to newly crowned title winners Abergavenny.

Champions elect Abergavenny, needing just three points to win the title, won the toss and batted first reaching a total of 242-6 from their 50 overs.

Beavans made 70, while A.Jones and A. Harrison contributed with 39 and 36 respectively. Steve Provis took 3-50 for Athletic.

In reply, Barry reached 137 all-out with the ever reliable Lee Morgan continuing his rich vein of form with a fine 42, while Zeeshan added a further 41 which included seven fours and a six. Five of his fours came from the first five balls of Dan Cook's last over.

D. Clarke ended with figures of 3-32 and S. Clarke took 2-40 for the title winners.

Barry's second XI travelled to Croesyceiliog and were bowled out for 129 with a scratch side, with Ashley Baker's 42 and Dave Evans' 23 the main run scorers.

L. Edward took 3-41 for the hosts.

In reply Croesyceiliog reached their total for the loss of just a single wicket, with L. Edward top-scoring with 50 and J. Scarborough adding a further 30.

The club would like to thank Glan Williams for all the hard work he does on and off the field, especially with regards to the ground which has not had a single Saturday league fixture called off this season.

On Sunday, September 24, Barry Athletic Cricket Club will be holding a car boot sale at the ground. The sale is set to begin at 8am, with a limited number of spaces available. Entry is £10 per car.
