SULLY Sports Ladies Bowls Club were crowned winners of the Evening League title on Monday, August 21, on a bright sunny evening in an exciting finish to the league season.

Sully had won their section by just one point over Llantrisant seconds to progress to the section semi-finals, which was followed up by a convincing win over Gilfach Bargoed for a place in the final.

Here the opposition were Llantrisant firsts, who had not lost a game all season. The final ended with a nail biting conclusion, with one rink finishing five shots up and the other rink having two ends to play. Sully Ladies were able to hold off the opposition to win by one shot.

Captain Mary Dare was delighted with the win.

"It was a culmination of hard work and dedication by the ladies members, as last year we were in danger of folding, but we presented a united front working together and looking after each other."

Four of the Sully Ladies were also representing the club at County Competition semi-finals, but were unsuccessful in their bid after losing their games on the last couple of ends by narrow margins.

Sully Ladies are always looking for new members and if anyone would like to come over and have a go, please contact Yvonne Lloyd on 02920 530795.
