THE JENNER Park Athletics Stadium played host to the 2017 Barry Comprehensive School sports day last month, with pupils from all year groups competing in track and field events throughout the day.

Demonstrating skill, ability, determination and resilience, students competed to fight it out for the points their houses needed to be crowned house champions for 2017.

This year saw a new initiative, where all pupils in every year group had to complete a 100m sprint, which ensured that everyone participated and contributed to their house total. In addition, all other track events were ‘open’ and many pupils took the opportunity to compete in a number of disciplines.

All events were watched by a good sized crowd who witnessed some fantastic performances throughout the day, whilst staff officiated to make sure proceedings ran smoothly.

The school would like to congratulate everyone involved and pay thanks to the PE Department for making it a successful school community day.
