PARKRUN UK has announced it has secured additional funding which will enable it to continue hosting events in Barry for at least the next three years.

The organisation has partnered with adventure holiday firm Exodus Travels, who have agreed to sponsor parkrun events all across the country.

Parkruns are free and take place every Saturday morning at Barry Island Promenade, consisting of a five kilometre run beginning at 9:00am. Coordinated by volunteers, sponsorship is essential to the organisation to ensure that the event remains free of charge.

Parkrun CEO Nick Pearson said: "We are delighted to partner with adventure holiday specialists, Exodus Travels, to keep our community thriving – so if you fancy some physical activity, volunteering or just want to socialise with fellow locals, join in one of the parkrun events near you."

Pete Burrell, Managing Director at Exodus Travels, said: "The goal behind the partnership is to ensure that parkrun remains free and easily accessible to everyone. I’ve had such a wonderful experience with my local parkruns, and want everyone to be able to be a part of parkrun’s open and friendly community."
