CADOXTON continued their Munro Cup programme with a visit from Penarth. They were successful on two rinks and tied a third, but a heavy defeat on the fourth ensured an overall win for the visitors.

Derek Jeffries, skipped his rink to a 7 - 0 start, before three losing ends reduced the advantage to just one. Five shots during the following two ends reopened the gap. The reply was three singles. Supremacy was shown for the hosts with four winning ends including a ‘5’ to finish. Jim Davies won 12twelve of the ends, but mainly singles, whilst the opposition although having success on only six ends three ‘3’s and three ‘2’s  tied the final score. Howard Craven had a slow start on his rink, trailing 2 – 9 after eight ends. However they settled and finished with a two-shot win, Kelvin Chedgzoy’s rink was not allowed into the game with an on form David Dalby restricting them to just one shot in 15 ends.

With no league fixture scheduled, a friendly match was fixed at Rumney. Cadoxton arrived with a player short, but the space was filled by one of the home team’s reserves.

The outcome was a win on all rinks. The top rink was skipped by Don Kuhnell, with Ivor Robertson’s performance assisting  in restricting the opposition to just 5 five winning ends. Roy Harding’s rink  trailed at tea, but performed superbly after the break to turn the result around for a comfortable win.  The rink skipped by Jim Davies, held a narrow tea advantage, but only one single was conceded afterwards until a ‘5’  against on the penultimate end. spoilt, the run, ,not the final outcome.

Gordon Davies had a close game with the scores level after 9 ends at 7-7. They were tied again at 12 each. With four ends left a 1 shot advantage was held. Three of these ends brought success and the fourth victory of the game.
