Barry Town United 3

Goytre United 0

BARRY Town United's Welsh Premier League dream became a reality on Tuesday night, as the club put an end to a 13-year absence to clinch their long-awaited return to the national top flight.

A crowd of almost 650 watched the Town beat Goytre United at Jenner Park; their 3 - 0 victory securing the three points needed for promotion, with two games spare.

Goytre had beaten Barry at Glanhafod Park in the teams' previous meeting, but found themselves swept away by an irresistible first-half performance; Luke Cooper firing into the roof of the net to put the Town ahead, before Tyrell Webbe headed in their second.

When Drew Fahiya tucked away a penalty to make it three, it was clear the night would belong to Barry; and after seeing out the second half unblemished, Gavin Chesterfield's squad can now look forward to meetings with WPL mainstays Bangor City, Aberystwyth Town and champions The New Saints next season.
