ON SUNDAY, Barry Athletic Cricket Club opened their 2017 season with a pre-season game against Dinas Powys, the game was only able to go ahead after some hard work by the ground staff on Friday and Saturday.
Barry won the toss and asked Dinas to bat first and were soon in the wickets when Anwar had Hannah caught by Provis for 11. Choudry and Colley added 45 before Colley was LBW to Simon Phillips 2 for 35.
Dinas Powys were to score 153 for 7 from their 40 overs, with Choudry 53 and Clarke 30 being the main contributors. A special mention to must go to young Aidan Rutherford who bowled six fine overs with not much luck and is a good talent in the making.
In reply, Barry reached 156 for 4 with Shae Ellis 45, Nathan Baker 44 no and Sudesh 25 no, as Barry recorded their first win of the season.
This weekend Barry entertain Miskin Manor on Saturday and a local derby against Penarth on Sunday, both games starting at 12.30pm.
