VALE-BASED ten-pin bowling talent Chris Hignett is celebrating victory at the South Wales Counties Trial.

On March 12, Hignett, 26, met tough competition at Rhondda Bowl in Tonyrefail.

With the win, Barry resident Hignett will take his place in the County Team that will compete in September in the BTBA Inter County Tournament.

Bowling a high game of 244 in tricky lane conditions, Hignett cruised his way to the tournament trophy, decided by a total score over nine games.

After several years out of the sport, focusing on his personal fitness coaching, as well as being a sports massage therapist, Hignett is back in the limelight once more.

Hignett stated: "It's great to be back to ten-pin bowling, and this is only the start for me."

With the win under his belt, Hignett looks to take this momentum forwards into a couple of tournaments in April.

The upcoming tournaments are particularly important as they are an opportunity to qualify for the Welsh team.

"I'd like to thank Jenkins Cardiff for sponsoring my bowling shirts and for a great deal on my Suzuki Vitara," commented Hignett.
