THE ASRS and Dockers Cups took centre stage in the Vale of Glamorgan Football League over the weekend as the competitions reached the semi-final stage.

In the ASRS Cup Vale United's bid for the treble continued as they edged out St Athan 3 - 2 with an own goal, Dan Hanson and Alex Gregory sending the league leaders into the final.

They will play Cowbridge Town who went all the way to penalties against Rhoose - Town coming out victorious in the shoot out to go to Jenner Park on April 30.

In the Dockers Cup, Barry Saints demolished Island Marine B 6 - 1. David Evans bagged a hat-trick including a 40 yard thunderbolt free kick, Joss Davies (2) and Joey Matthews adding the others. That set-up a final that will please the neutrals, as league leaders Cadoxton Imps pipped Rhoose B 1 - 0.

The last outstanding Supporters Cup quarter-final was also played with Pumas winning a thriller 4 - 3 against Cadoxton Athletic.

Only three league fixtures were played this weekend.

In Division One Barry Belgrade thumped Glenbrook a massive 11 - 1 to go eight points behind leaders Barry Athletic B with two games in hand.

In Division Two, Penarth Town B thrashed bottom side Pumas B 6 - 1, Morgan Hayman (2), Simon Fairhurst (2), Nathan Bousie and McCauley Winton scored the goals that send Town B to within three points of second and seven points of top.

Finally, BVFC got their first win in five league games as they were victorious away to St Athan B 3 - 1.

Next week's games of the day see St Athan represent the Vale in the quarter-finals of the SWFA Intermediate Cup against Nelson Cavaliers.

In the league Rhoose host Vale United in a second versus first clash, Cogan versus Pumas and another top-of-the-table clash as Cadoxton Imps play Barry Saints.
