Crickhowell RFC Under-13s 24

BARRY RFC Under-13s played their first game of the year at home against Crickhowell RFC Under-13s on Sunday, February 5.

After a wet and cold weekend the pitches were looking good and the boys went out with positive attitudes after eight weeks of no fixtures.

Barry player Bannister scored both tries for Barry with Baron's golden boot adding the conversions, putting points on the board.

Kirby ploughed through the Crickhowell defence looking to off load the ball to Beer, this then went against Barry RFC to give Crickhowell that chance to score.

But that didn't stop the team as Bradley took the ball pushing through to create that ground with help from Cox and Szuchnik. Phillps didn't want to let them through so was tackling from left to right to protect that ball.

Line outs went in Barry's favour with some good throw-ins.

Barry's scrum was strong with Jones and Carter in the front row and Ewington at the flank. Crickhowell scored once more but Barry didn't stop and kept up the defensive work with the support of full back Belnoris and supporting wing Everitt.

Not forgetting the captain Joel Borge who played his first game back from an injury.

Not only was it their first game in eight weeks, they also got to wear their new sponsored kit. Without their sponsors they wouldn't have received the kit, so the team wish to say thank you to Danny Borge who owns Artisan Kitchens, he helped provide new windbreakers and after match polo tops.

Another massive thanks to Andy Kirby who sorted the sponsor for the team and APEC executive travel for the match kit.

Massive thanks to all the parents and coaches Simon Cox, Ieuan Rendell and Alex Szuchnik for the committed perseverance with the team.
