Tynewydd FC 3 - Masons Moving Group 1

TYNEWYDD FC got their second win of the season, their first since opening day, with a 3 - 1 win over Masons Moving Group.

Having been promoted to the top division for the first time, Tynewydd always knew they'd find things tougher than last season and combined with numerous injuries and some heavy defeats things have proved that way.

Most of the lads knew that mid-table would be deemed success and only being three points off that with a few games in hand show things maybe aren't as bad as first thought.

Knowing that Masons hadn't won a game all season, Tynewydd knew this was an ideal game to claim all three points but a scrappy first half with few chances probably confirmed why both teams are where they are.

Tynewydd started the second half with much more impetuous and were soon in the lead after a lofted ball in from George Pycroft was turned into the Mason's net by one of their centre backs. The lead wasn't to last long after some neat play from the Mason's front three resulted in the left winger free at the back with an easy nod in to make it 1 - 1.

The home side were straight back on the front foot though and creating chances looking to regain the lead, which they managed to do in the 75th minute when a through ball found Mark McCarthy one-on-one with the onrushing 'keeper and McCarthy managed to get their first to prod home to make it 2 - 1.

One of the more humorous moments of the game came when the two opposing Eveleigh brothers clashed in the box leaving younger brother Steven on the floor after Paul "slipped" into him, a trait Paul has used for numerous years now.

Leon Butler came on to make his Tynewydd debut and sure things up in the middle of the park but it was his central midfield partner who sealed the victory. Gareth 'Skinny' Richards received the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box and glided in field beating two players with ease before calmly curling the ball into the far corner Kakaesque style to seal all three points for Tynewydd and guarantee himself man of the match honours.
