THANKS to the partnership between the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Sports Development team and Badminton Wales, Vale girls are on the move and exercising in a fast-paced, ultra-violet environment.

More than 20 girls aged 11 and over have been attending the weekly glowminton sessions – a new approach to badminton that sees the game played in the dark with UV shuttlecocks and nets, as well as neon wrist bands and music.

Any girls aged 11 and over can attend sessions, without booking, every Thursday from 5pm to 6pm, at Holm View Leisure Centre, Barry. The first session is free and there-after £1 per session, with rewards for attending sessions.

The Girls on the move initiative forms part of the Active Young People scheme, which is all about getting young people active more often, by encouraging them to exercise more frequently throughout the week.
