IT WAS the Barry Cup weekend in the Vale league last weekend. The big upset of the day saw Cadoxton Barry, who are second from bottom in division one, dump Premier Division Dinas Powys Athletic out 4 - 1.

Rhoose defeated SP Billy 5 - 4 in a thriller while the other premier division sides avoided upsets. Vale United won 6 - 2 over Barry Saints, Penarth Town edged out Cadoxton Athletic 2 - 1, Cowbridge Town triumphed over Cogan 4 - 2 and Island Marine inflicted the first defeat of the season on Cadoxton Imps 3 - 0. St Athan and Barry Belgrade both progressed against Glenbrook and BVFC by large margins.

The quarter-final draw was made and it threw up some intriguing ties, Cadoxton Barry's reward for their upset is a trip to Island Marine, Penarth host Rhoose, while Barry Belgrade go to Cowbridge looking to pull off an upset. But tie of the round must be St Athan hosting Vale United.
