NOMINATIONS for this year's Tennis Wales Awards are open.

Tennis Wales is encouraging people to nominate people and organisations that have contributed the most to the sport during the past year.

Nominations are being accepted for these awards and the AEGON British Tennis Awards.

“At the elite end of tennis we’ve seen players from Wales dominating at British level as well as some great international achievements,” said Tennis Wales chief executive, Peter Drew.

“We’ve had some of our junior and senior players winning International Tennis Federation titles and British national titles, and we’ve seen many of our county junior teams reaching County Cup national finals.

“At the grass roots end of tennis we have continued to see the popularity of tennis grow, especially in our juniors and in schools tennis.

“Tennis Wales has worked hard over the past year with the Welsh tennis community to expand participation into communities that traditionally have not had as much opportunity to play tennis, so that tennis can be an increasingly accessible and enjoyable sport for everyone in Wales.”

The awards recognise the individuals and groups, including coaches, players, volunteers and clubs, who have helped develop on-court talent and increase participation.

Individuals will nominate people and organisations for the AEGON British Tennis Awards with any for Wales being automatically put forward for the Tennis Wales Awards.

The closing date for nominations is November 30 at noon, and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in Swansea on January 28, 2017.
