SP Billy 3 - FC Pumas 2

ON A great day for football on Saturday, August 30, at Pencoedtre, SP Billy knew they had to keep up the hard work from the week before.

The manager changed a few people around giving all the squad a chance. SP Billy started off the brightest, creating a few chances with Franky on point to get the side on the score sheet. But their opponents FC Pumas were a hard working team and found the equaliser.

The SP defence was working hard, especially Lee Connell, with the midfield of Drew Thomas and Ben Davies pulling the strings, Ody Nicolau holding the ball up and Ethan Shaw and Casey Davies using the wings.

Then Franky scored his second with John Knight pulling some great saves making up for his earlier mistake. Then the Pumas equalised and seemed to push on for the winner.

Franky smashed their hopes when he completed his hat-trick and again it was a great team performance with SP Billy taking the three points.

Thanks go to Dave and Jo from the King Billy for the after match food and drinks.

Cogan Coronation 4 - SP Billy 4

SP Billy needed to get back on track after a close encounter with Belgrade in their mid-week which ended 4 - 3 to Belgrade.

The match started off slowly with SP Billy going a goal down after five minutes, then the team seemed to wake up with Rhydian upfront working tirelessly and Ethan Shaw was able to equalise.

SP Billy were on the ascendency, playing neat football out to the wings to Casey Davies and Shaw with Drew Thomas and Lee Connell marshalling the midfield.

Then Rhydian managed to score to take the lead 2 - 1 followed by Cogan making a big mistake by scoring an own goal.

SP Billy were now looking more likely to score again and Rhydian bagged his second of the game.

In the last 10 minutes of the half, SP 'keeper Johnny Knight was called on to save a penalty shot, shortly followed by two quick successive saves following attempts by Cogan.

In the second half, Cogan started quicker and managed to find the net. This spurred the home side on with SP Billy defender Paul McCarthy trying to hold the ball up with the match now going end to end.

Then a mistake at the back gifted Cogan a lifeline and they took full of advantage. Following their third goal, Cogan made it four.

SP Billy tried to find another but were kept out until the final whistle.

Man of the match went to Johnny Knight.
