ON SATURDAY Barry Athletic Cricket Club's 1st XI travelled to Rogerstone and came home victorious.

After losing the toss and being asked to field, Rogerstone never looked like they were going to post a high total and eventually came away with a score of 210 for 5 in their 50 overs.

A Alderhay was the top scorer with 66 not out and a quick 46 from Andy Harris being the main contributors. John Gee continued with 2 for 15 in his 10 overs with five maidens and Steve Provis 2 for 46.

In reply Barry got off to a solid start in their chase of 211 losing their first wicket when Provis fell for 41 which included eight fours with the score on 92. Then followed a partnership of 98 between White and Rhett Jones before White was out for a well complied 73 with 12 fours and a welcome return to form with the score 190 for 2.

It was left to the injured Rhett Jones to finish the game off with four fours in five balls and a brave 65 not out, Shae Ellies was left on four not out as Barry ran out winners by eight wickets.

Barry Athletic 2nd XI entertained Rogerstone 2nd XI at The Island Ground and Rogerstone batted 1st and complied a score of 157 for 8 in their 45 overs with Trinder (39) and Hughes (22) being the main scorers, Billy Usswald 3 for 18 and Andy Ellis 2 for 19 being the main wicket takers.

In reply Barry strolled to a win scoring 158 for 3 with the ever reliable Lee Morgan (68), Damon Leake (23) and Paul Murphy (48) not out getting the best scores as Barry ran out to a seven wicket win and some valuable points.

This weekend Barry Athletic 1st XI entertain Ponthir at The Island Ground, with the 2nd XI travelling to Ponthir.
