THIS week at Sully Bowling Club it was another disappointing turn out for the team on Saturday, despite a full selection midweek.

Midweek and in competitions the club remain very competitive and punch above their weight, but on a Saturday it seems very poor bowling and bad decision making take over, resulting in yet another heavy home defeat. It looks like division three is looming large.

On Wednesday a weakened side played at home to Millwood and came away victorious by nine shots with two rinks up.

D Davies, J Hubbard, A Smith, D Edwards 24 - 10

P Neale, C Michael, T Murphy, A Thomas 16 - 12

Final score 62 - 53

Then on Saturday, all change, playing at home to Mountain Ash in a must win game Sully were down on all rinks losing 67 - 118.

On Sunday, firstly congratulations to Brian Griffiths for making the quarter-finals of the WBA Over-60s in Llandod. With a very early start Brian drove up in the morning for a 9.30am start only to be beaten very narrowly 21 - 17.

Special mention must be made of the fact that he then realised that he did have enough time to get back for the semi-final of the Alan Martin which was not his plan.

Club captain Alan Thomas stepped down to make space for Brian and it was not a wasted effort. In the afternoon, Sully's two rinks found how to bowl again against Llantwit Major and came away victorious 44 - 26.

A Rees, A Smith, H Levic-Jones, B Griffiths 29 - 15

B Griffiths , G Durham, D Edwards, C Best 15 - 11

This puts the club through to the final of the Alan Martin.

This Wednesday Sully are away to Dinas Powys for the last Munro Cup game and on Saturday they are away to Penyrheol.
