JENNER Park hosted the annual Vale of Glamorgan girl’s primary football festival recently, and saw a range of schools compete for bragging rights.

Organised by Vale Ladies and Girls FC, in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Sports Development team, the festival formed part of the Dragon Sport programme, which liaises with local schools with the aim of increasing sports participation in seven to 11-year-olds. The festival sought to provide the opportunity for girls to participate in football in a fun and enjoyable environment.

Across the Vale, 100 hundred pupils attended the festival, with all schools playing a maximum of six matches. Sully Primary School, Ysgol Sant Baruc, St Alberts, Ysgol Lol Morganwg and Dinas Powys Primary School all displayed fantastic ball skills and team work, inspired by the recent success of the men’s national team in France.
