BARRY Town United have announced their full pre-season campaign, with fixtures against opponents from the Welsh Premier League, Newport County, Cardiff City and England.

Manager Gavin Chesterfield and his players start their preparations this Saturday, July 16, with a run-out against top flight newcomers Cardiff Metropolitan University at Cyncoed Campus.

Jenner Park then hosts an attractive pre-season opener the following Tuesday evening, July 19, as Barry entertain a Newport County XI for the first time since the 1990s.

Continuing the run of tough tests for Chesterfield's men, the Bluebirds are back in town on Saturday, July 23, as Barry welcome a Cardiff City XI for the fifth successive season.

Meanwhile, former manager Gary Barnett will bring his Moreton Rangers side from the Hellenic League to Jenner Park on Saturday, July 30, 20 years after leading the Town to a memorable UEFA Cup run in 1996.

Barry complete their pre-season programme with trips to Ely Rangers on Tuesday, August 2, and Garden Village on Saturday, August 7, with the Welsh League Division One campaign beginning at Jenner Park seven days later, against newly-promoted Undy Athletic.

Jenner Park will then host the first stage of the Welsh League Cup on Tuesday, August 16, as the Town entertain Briton Ferry, before the opening round of the Word Cup sees the Welsh League Division One runners-up travel to Cambrian and Clydach Vale in September.

The full schedule for 2016-17 will be confirmed shortly, with advance tickets for the club's pre-season matches at Jenner Park now on sale from ticketsource.co.uk/Barry

Supporters are advised that admission will be available at the turnstiles for each of these fixtures.

In terms of personnel, Chesterfield has retained the vast majority of players that helped the club to within four points of the Welsh League Division One championship last season, including the likes of fan favourites James Saddler, James Dixon, Troy Greening, Lee Baldock, Michael Hartley and Bobby Briers.

With Louis Feeley moving to Cinderford Town, Barry have meanwhile acted to strengthen by recruiting Welsh League title-winning defender Luke Cooper; with Cooper expected to make his Town debut against the current champions in this Saturday's first friendly.
