ANOTHER disappointing result for Millwood Bowling Club in the latest round of the Munro Cup, losing by an 18 shot margin as they travelled to Sully.

At the fourth end, opponents Sully Sports had already taken the early advantage to go into a 13 - 19 lead and after the eighth end they had doubled the lead score with a commanding 12 shot advantage 25 – 37.

As much as they tried it was not to be for Millwood, after the 12th end Sully had the game already in the bag, leading by a hefty 23 shot margin 34 – 57.

As a consolation in the last couple of ends Millwood did claw a little bit of the deficit back, to finish this tie with a score of 50 - 68.

The damage was really done by rink six for Sully by winning by 11 shots.

Sully Sports 68 Millwood 50

Travelling up to Thomastown on the rearranged Friday evening game instead of the Saturday afternoon, Millwood found that the Thomastown bowlers were a mixture of young and not so young bowlers.

The game was certainly not going to plan after the first five ends had been played, as Millwood found themselves trailing by a massive 25 shots at 11 - 36.

On the tenth end, the game had not changed a great deal only for Millwood to gain a single shot to still trail at 28 - 52.

A quick readjustment of the plan was needed from Millwood to have any hope of getting close to the Thomastown scores. Even dragging some of the deficit back over the tenth to 15th ends, Millwood were still adrift by 19 shots at 48-67. Over the last six ends, Millwood at last found some form and finished the game with only a six shot margin for Thomastown to take the game to win 70 – 76.

The damage was inflicted on Millwood by the first five ends on rink five, and on rink three after eight ends, but the Millwood bowlers stuck to their plan and to only lose by the six shots does show that the game is never over till the final end.
