MILLWOOD Bowling Club came a fairly distant second place in this latest round of the Munro Cup against a determined Murch side whose rink five, skipped by R Mauchlin, managed a 20 shot winning margin over Millwood, thereby ensuring that the win went to the away side.

The signs looked a bit ominous for Millwood, even after the first four ends had been played when Murch galloped into a 5 - 28 shot advantage. At the eighth end, the score had not changed too dramatically, for Murch still held a commanding lead over Millwood to lead by the margin of 21 shots to 42.

As hard as they tried to make any kind of imprint on the lead, Millwood after the 13th end had been played, were still 41 shots to 59 in arrears, only to finish the cup tie going down by the 17 shot difference at 58 – 75 to Murch.

Entertaining Barry Masonic in this friendly game on June 24, there were a few Millwood players playing for Masonic.

Travelling up to Blaenrhondda on June 25, for this division four league game, Millwood went into this game lying second with Blaenrhondda in third place, so a bit of a keen tussle was expected with neither side wanting to give the other any leeway if possible.

When the first five of the 21 ends had been played, Millwood found themselves behind by seven shots at 14 – 21, but then they soon got to grips with their game plan and after the tenth both teams were level pegging at 40 shots each.

The home side then started to pull away from Millwood, after the 15th end Blaenrhondda had opened up a 19 shot margin to lead by 44 shots to 63. Blaenrhondda held onto their lead, and at the final 21st end the score was in favour of 85 - 73 to Blaenrhondda.
