BARRY netball team Westend Ladies have received a donation of more than £500 from insurance company Admiral, enabling them to buy new kit.

The money Westend Ladies received went towards buying netball dresses for their A team, which meant they only needed to raise further funds for the B team.

Jenna Webb, who works for Admiral’s marketing department, has played in the A team since 2008 and wanted to give something back to her netball club. This year she took on the role of treasurer and was keen to see if Westend Ladies could benefit from her employer’s Community Chest Scheme.

Jenna said, “Applying to Community Chest meant I could show my appreciation and support to the girls who take on the day-to day running of Westend Ladies. I’m thrilled it is my employer who has helped the club get a new look, and I’m so proud to have the Admiral logo on our dresses.

“I love being part of this club,” she added.

"When the team started, most of the girls came from the West End area of Barry, hence the name, and we are very proud of our roots. Netball has been an important part of our lives for years. We train together, play together and socialise together.”

Admiral’s Community Chest scheme has been running for more than 10 years and gives thousands of pounds annually to charities and organisations in South Wales that its staff or their families are involved in.
