THE Cadoxton Bowls Club rink skipped by Howard Craven was the only one to complete the game with any glory against Windsor Bowling Club.

Cadoxton were playing at home in this Munro Cup game. The opposition skipped by the experienced Ken McLeod put up a good performance, and in a close affair the scores were tied on three, four, six, 12 and 13. In a tense finish three shots were scored by the home team for victory.

Unfortunately for Cadoxton the remaining rinks failed miserably and were all well beaten. Success came on just 11 of the 54 ends played by the three rinks.

The two A sides, Cadoxton and Millwood, met at Millwood in a ML7 match. The home side took hold of the match and were never behind throughout the game.

After four ends the advantage was 10 shots which increased to 11 after seven ends. The visitors did make a recovery over the next five ends to bring the scores level.

However, this advance never progressed again and they were trailing again after 18 ends by 15 shots. A mini revival reduced this to 11 shots by the end.

Rob Byrne skipped the only successful rink for Cadoxton, against Derek Gorringe. They collected seven shots against one on the last four ends.

David Fanning also had a good finish against Mike Williams, improving from a deficit of nine to end up just four short. The rink skipped by John Jones led for most of the game, being behind on just one end from 17 ends, against Joe Butler.

However, two threes and a four against during the final ends cost them the game. Gordon Davies seemed to be going well, despite conceding a five early in the game, but got stuck on 13 shots, and added just a further single late in the game.
