BARRY Yacht Club is holding their Summer Open Day on Sunday, June 12 for people interested in trying out sailing or rowing.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take to the water with experienced sailors aboard the club's cruisers or try out taster sessions in the club's dinghies and row in the Celtic long boats. The sessions are free.

The day gets started at 10am, when refreshments will be available. The bar opens at noon and a family barbecue will be held at the end of the activities.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to find out about the benefits of becoming an associate member of the club, including hire of the function room, and regular club events.

Booking is essential for the water activities, as spaces are limited.

Please email Sharon on bycsecretary@hotmail.co.uk, or leave a message on their answerphone on 01446 735511, with your name and the number of people who would like a taster session.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The club is tucked away next to Jackson's Bay, so you could come on foot from the beach or find them at The Pierhead, Docks, Barry, CF62 5QS. From Plymouth Road, follow the signs for the ABP Pilots and RNLI to the club.
