ON SATURDAY, May 28, Barry Athletic entertained the Welsh Asians and Barry captain Nathan Baker won the toss and asked the opposition to bat first on a bright afternoon at The Island Ground.

The Welsh Asian were soon in trouble as John Gee took control and reduced the visitors to 15 for two, and after 18 overs they had been reduced to 73 for seven with Gee finishing with five for 21 and league figures in his first three games of 14 for 66. Steve Provis chipped in with two for 46 with Shea Ellis two for 13 and keeper Gavin White claiming one catch and two stumping's as the Welsh Asians were bowled out for 197 in the 41st over.

In reply Barry got of to a storming start as captain Baker moved rapidly on to 47 which included six fours and one six before he got himself out trying to play one shot too many for 47. With the score on 74 this brought Gavin White to join Goodway and with a mixture of good running and some fine shots saw Barry home to their total of 198 for one with 10 overs to spare as Goodway finished on 87 not out and White 44 not out and another maximum points win as Barry move top of the table on net run rate.

This weekend Barry Athletic 1st XI have two away games with the first on Saturday in the league to Lisvane and on Sunday in the Welsh Cup to Blackwood, with the 2nd XI at home to Blackwood 2nds on Saturday in the league.
