AFTER a successful weekend of International basketball for the u14s girls in Malta and the u14s boys too, Basketball Wales congratulated Barry girl Maisie Harrhy who took the honour of Wales u14s tournament MVP aged just 12.

The support from more than 50 travelling fans helped to make for a fantastic atmosphere for the test series.

Maisie said: "I was really happy to be given MVP. The best part was going on tour with the rest of the girls."

Maisie travelled with fellow St Richard Gwyn student Georgia Hellerman also from Barry.

The family would like to say a big thanks to Nan Buck and Liz at Floored Genius for helping fund the Malta trip.

Another special honour for Maisie is that she has recently been invited to attend the FIBA Europe International camp in Slovenia in July.

Maisie is one of two girls invited to represent Welsh talent at the prestigious training camp along with Olivia Thompson.

Maisie's mum Tracey Harrhy said: "The many hours of training Maisie does each week, and playing regularly for Archers girls, Vale Vipers and her National team she loves basketball and works so hard, we're so proud of her."

The family added that they would be grateful for any help from sponsors wishing to help with the costs of travelling to the Slovenia camp.
