WHAT started out as a Facebook message has finished with a fantastic sponsorship deal for Barry Athletic Cricket Youth Section.

In January this year, Mark Ellis, the youth section coordinator sent a message to Cadwaladers in the hope of securing a sponsorship deal. With the café just 40 yards from the ground the team hoped that they would be happy to be their sponsors.

Cadwaladers quickly responded and a meeting was set up with the operations manager, Paul Morton. Mark suggested training jackets for the children, a VIP discount card and an ice cream cart situated at the ground during training and matches, which in return would generate business and custom for them. Paul was keen to put this to the directors.

It was agreed by Cadwaladers, who matched the enthusiasm, commitment and ideas and put forward an offer to support the club.

Last Saturday the first part of the deal was secured, the children receiving their training jackets and parents and associates receiving 20 per cent off VIP discount cards.

Paul Morton commented, “Cadwaladers are proud to be associated with such a good cause and expect great things to come from this recently reformed youth section. We wish the whole team great success in their upcoming games.”

With the new season fast approaching the children will look professional in their jackets as the under-9s and under-11s teams take their place in the new Cardiff and Vale Junior League.

This is the start of a really good relationship with Cadwaladers. They really hope youth section members, players, parents, grandparents and visitors to the ground take the offer of the 20 per cent VIP cards.

For those interested in visiting Cadwaladers the café on the Island is located on Paget Road, Barry Island.

Training for Barry Athletic Cricket Youth Section starts outside at the ground on Barry Island on Tuesday, April 19 from 6pm to 7.30pm.

New players (boys and girls) are welcome from the age of seven to 13. Turn up and have a go as they have eight newly qualified Level 1 coaches. The under-9s and under-11s will start league matches from May onwards.
