Barry Town 3 - Aberbargoed Buds 0

BARRY Town United front pairing Jordan Cotterill and James Dixon were both on target for the fourth consecutive match on Saturday (November 21) as the Jenner Park side rolled to a 3-0 home win over Aberbargoed Buds.

Cotterill, who has enjoyed a fine run of form of late since returning from injury, broke the deadlock after 13 minutes and would double Barry’s advantage with a sublime direct free kick from distance.

It was then left to Dixon to put the match beyond the Buds, who counted former Cardiff City, Crystal Palace and Wales defender Darcy Blake among their number.

The result saw Gavin Chesterfield’s side climb to fourth in the Welsh League Division One table, nine points adrift of early pacesetters Goytre, albeit with two games in hand.

In the one negative of the afternoon, Town were forced to replace Dan Bradley in the first after following a hand injury (with substitute Joe Massaro stepping in for a third competitive clean sheet); but the long-standing goalkeeper, approaching his tenth year at the club, is set to make a rapid recovery after a positive post-match prognosis.

Likewise, Town talisman TJ Nagi is expected back in the Barry line-up within the fortnight after his trip to the fracture clinic earlier in the week.

Saturday’s clash at Jenner Park was arranged at short notice following the postponement of Caerau Ely’s midweek tie in Welsh League Challenge Cup, which necessitated them attempting at the weekend, thus postponing their scheduled home match against Barry.

This coming Saturday, November 28, Aberdare Town return to the Vale of Glamorgan for a Welsh League encounter, mere weeks after being dismantled 7-2 in the Welsh Cup.

Kick-off between Barry and Aberdare is at 2pm, with entry at the turnstiles for £5 and concessions available for senior citizens, students and children.

Having netted five times against Aberdare in the cup, en route to claiming the FAW's Player of the Round plaudits, one more goal for striker James Dixon this weekend would see him reach the milestone of 50 for his hometown club.
