BARRY Town United striker James Dixon has been named the Football Association of Wales' Player of the Round for his recent five goals against Aberdare Town at Jenner Park.

Presented with a glass momento ahead of Saturday's match with Cwmbran Celtic, Dixon will be invited to be part of a presentation on the pitch at the JD Welsh Cup Final in May, 2016, celebrating his place in the competition's Team of the Season for 2015-16.

Despite the wet weather, the Town juniors, seniors and ladies all enjoyed action at Jenner Park this past weekend, as the recent investment in 3G facilities continues to prove its worth.

On Saturday morning, the cup-winning Barry Under-13 squad welcomed overseas opposition for the very first time, in the form of Ireland's New Ross Town FC.

The Wexford youngsters were the inaugural international visitors to Jenner Park since its recent 3G revolution and won many friends for their attitude on and off the pitch.

Hours later, more than 230 spectators saw the senior side come from behind twice against Cwmbran Celtic, only for a late strike to knock them out of the Welsh League Challenge Cup.

Jordan Cotterill and Ryan Evans joined the aforementioned Dixon on the scoresheet in the 4-3 thriller, with Cotterill claiming man of the match for his goal and two assists.

Finally, on Sunday afternoon, Jenner Park hosted its maiden South Wales Women's and Girls' League fixture, as Barry entertained Abertillery Belles in Division Two.

A hat-trick from Chloe Jones and a 25-yard wonder goal from Emily Hill set the tone for an emphatic homecoming victory, with the Belles given credit for their perseverance following a string of first half injuries.

Completing a busy weekend for all those in yellow and blue, the club's pan disability section enjoyed a full day of football in Cwmbran at their latest festival and are looking forward to their first appearance at Jenner Park later in the season.

On Tuesday, November 10 in the evening, Risca United are in town for the first Welsh League Division One match since the ground's re-opening; tackling Gavin Chesterfield's first team under the famous Barry floodlights.

The scheduled Town vs Goytre United match originally set for Saturday, November 14 has however been postponed, as a result of the opposition's ongoing cup commitments.

The Glanhafod Park side were due to be in action against Ton Pentre in the Welsh League Challenge Cup last weekend, only for their meeting to fall victim to the weather.

With cup ties taking precedence over league fixtures, the teams will have to try again this coming Saturday; which ultimately prevents the Barry game from taking place.

The next home game for the first team will be on Saturday, November 28, against Aberdare Town in the Welsh League, while the Under-19s make their Jenner Park bow six days earlier against their Risca counterparts (with both matches 2pm kick-offs).
