BARRY boxer Jason Sillet has turned professional and had his first fight on Friday, October 31 in Manchester.

Jason, 18, from Romilly Park, was a former amateur boxer at Splott ABC, but has been training with the famous Lee Beard Boxing Gym in Northside, Manchester for 12 months.

Jason faced Phil Hervey when they entered the ring at Sherridan Manchester.

Jason started in the first round with all guns blazing, firing some great combinations to the body, wearing his opponent down until the fourth round and firing a combination of head shots which forced the referee to stop the fight with a TKO.

Speaking about the fight, Jason commented on how relaxed and confident he felt from the sound of the bell in round one.

He is now taking a week off before starting his training for the next fight.

He said would like to thank Nino Spiteri for making it possible and having faith in him and also his sponsors, Ewe Move Barry, Ignite Performance Academy for making it financially possible and his coach-load of supporters from Barry Island Gym.
