MILLWOOD Bowling Club made the journey up to Thomastown for a fairly crucial game for both sides in the division, knowing that a defeat could possibly be the end of their promotion hopes.

With this threat hanging over both teams, a cagey and hard fought game was expected, which is exactly what it turned out to be.

With the first five of the 21 ends played, Thomastown took an early two shot advantage to lead 20 –18.

From the fifth to the tenth ends, Millwood knuckled down to the task and overturned the deficit and led by 11 shots at 45 –34.

The game got even tighter from the tenth to 15th ends with Millwood hanging on to the lead by the slender three shots at 57-54.

The final quarter of the game saw Millwood increase the shot advantage to run out winners by 11 shots to make the score 80 shots to 69. The points total for Millwood for this game was a very welcome 12-2, by virtue of winning three of the four rinks played.

Their next game is home to Gelligaled, so they really need to get a win against them to consolidate their promotion aspects.
